Here is an XBAP demo of Xceed DataGrid for WPF, a completely free datagrid control for Windows Presentation Foundation. This control is provided entirely for free, yet is completely functional and includes full distribution rights. It is 100% stylable and templatable, and features rich in-place editing, powerful grouping with UI virtualization, and high-quality views (table and card), each with all the OS themes. Demo requires XP with .NET 3.0, or Vista.

Fun Controls Bag is a toolkit of some interested controls that are not in the current version of WPF.

In this first CTP, you will find the following controls:

- CheckedComBox

- CheckedListBox

- CollapsiblePanel

- ComboBoxFontSelection

- ConfirmButton

- FilteredTextBox

Animating Tile Panel: another custom panel. This one has animation.

BlockBar: Example of a simple FrameworkElement control.

ColorPicker: Includes a simple style in the Library and a pretty style in the app. Remember: templates = skinning for controls.

Date Controls: The often requested DatePicker and MonthCalendar are now available for your use. They are designed as samples, but you should be able to get pretty far with them in your applications. Thanks to the Advanced Technology Center team in Beijing for delivering these!

Folder Picker: an example of TreeView binding to hierarchical data.

Graph: (Updated!) Moving beyond the standard way to visualize lists of data. Clearing the center node now clears the lines. I also make sure new nodes fly out randomly. This is for you, John. :-)

Hex: a game. An example of composing visuals using FrameworkElement as a base class.

InfoTextBox : A custom control. The code is in the Library assembly.

List Pager: I've heard this request a lot: "How can I show a ListBox/ListView with pages?" This is a super simple way to do it. New control not required.

Mine sweeper: a (more familiar) game. Similar implementation to Hex.

NumericUpDown: a simple implementation of a numeric up-down. This control also has an AutomationPeer. Take a look using UISpy from the SDK.

RadioButtonList: a demo of the flexibility of styling/templating.

TreeMapPanel: An example of a custom panel.

TreeView Double-Click: a simple sample showing how to find which TreeViewItem was double-clicked. Also a demo of XML binding to a TreeView.

TreeView Expand: I've provided a helper class to let you "Show" a given node and "ExpandAll".

Visual Tree Viewer: another one-off sample of how to walk the WPF Visual Tree using VisualTreeHelper and TreeView.

XAML T-shirt: super simple demo of the power of XAML.

Zap Scroller (New!): Playing with the ItemsControl/Panel model. Added animation and item preview.

Selector3d: Showing items on a rotating cube

Selector3D is a WPF control that inherit by System.Windows.Controls.Primitives.Selector and showing one item, but when you move to another item, it rotates a cube and it switches to the new item.

It support items binding, template, styles. Here you some screenshots.

Graph: (Updated!) Moving beyond the standard way to visualize lists of data. I've fixed a couple of bugs and changed how I handle layout. (The stuff I do in GraphContentPresenter layout is weird. I'm not actually sure if it helps. Play carefully.)

Wpf3D : Easy 3D programming with WPF

Wpf3D is a WPF class library for building 3D models based on basic geometrical objects (polygons, cube, sphere, ring, etc.).

Tutorial - Samples include a football (soccer) balloon and an animated gyroscope.

Fancy Button decorator

The standard Button Chrome shipping in WPF is limited. If you want to build a resource efficient nice looking button, you should consider creating a custom Decorator. This project demonstrates a custom decorator which displays as an modern, attractive button. The code is in C#, but can be compiled and used from any language. Images and an explanation of the code are here: custom decorator.

Office 2007 Font Selection Combobox

If you like the Combobox in Office 2007 that let you to preview the style you are about to apply, you will like this control: it's a ComboBox that uses the same principle. It will give you the possibility to preview the font that you will apply to a text.

Useful, for example, if you need to create a Notepad clone ;)

PivotTable control

The PivotTable control allows to analyze multidimensional data and was originally presented in Microsoft Excel. This sample contains implementation of the PivotTable for WPF. It can retrieve data from Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services or just from a DataTable object.

Pre-requisite: To run this sample, you must download and install Microsoft ADOMD.NET v.9.00.1399

As you may already know WPF XBAPs applications can run hosted inside Media Center (MCE) on Vista (*).

The attached ZIP package provides code samples for three cool WPF controls designed for Media Center.

The download includes:

1) Soft Keyboard control

- Sample code that allows text entry to TextBox using the Media Center remote control.

- Sample code that demonstrates how you could localize the Soft-Keyboard control to other languages.

- Design document

2) Spinner control

- Sample control code for Numeric and Domain spinner that could be used with Remote control

- Design document

3) List Scroller

- Sample control code for Media Center List Scroller that could be used with Remote control

- Design document

4) Integrated Sample

- Sample app that uses all three controls.

- To run the app:

Install Visual studio,

Build the sample project in Visual Studio and then launch the MCETest.mcl file that is built in the bin\debug folder.

This should launch MCE if it is not already running and will then start the XBAP in MCE. If you are running Vista Beta2, there is a known bug that requires you resize the MCE window for the application to render.

Note that even though we designed these controls for 10ft MCE applications, you may find them also useful in other scenarios(e.g. such as for Touch screen)

You are welcome to use these controls in your own applications and send us feedback.

*We are not supporting hosting of WPF XBAPs inside Media Center on Media Center 2005 (Windows XP).

WPF June CTP Layout SDK Samples

The attached zip package includes all of the SDK samples for the Layout feature area. These samples are specific to the June CTP release of the SDK. It includes the layout cookbook as a sample application.
